Safe Child Stroller Policy
Our goal is to help keep your child safe during our Stroller-based classes (Stroller Strides, Stroller Barre, and Strides 360) while you workout.
Stroller Policy: Children who attend Stroller Strides/Stroller Barre/Strides 360 are expected to stay in strollers throughout class for the safety of everyone in attendance. Please do not remove your child from the stroller until the instructor informs you ALL fast-moving exercises are complete and that it is ok to take your child out of the stroller. Feel free to leave your child in the stroller until class is over if your child is content.
We recommend doing a "Stroller Set Check" at the beginning of warm-up: Come around to the front of the stroller quickly and check that children are buckled in, straps are snug, and children are ready to roll.
If your child needs a break BEFORE getting the ok to remove children from their strollers:
~ Infants: When a baby gets fussy and needs to be tended to (rocked, fed, changed, etc), please do so at any time, as long as it’s out of the way of fast-moving mamas and resistance bands. You can always catch up to us at the next station. Another option for moms with infants is to bring a carrier, and wear your baby when he/she is not responding to your usual soothing techniques. At that time, instructors will caution you not to perform exercises that include jumps, fast movements, or inversions that could put you and your baby at risk. If you did not bring your carrier, you may be able to perform simple exercises while holding baby, such as squats, but we do not encourage exercises with resistance bands or that require traveling. If you should lose balance and fall, baby may be protected by your arms, but you will not have your arms to protect you.
~ Mobile Children: If your child is not responding to snacks, toys, books, songs, etc, you can always walk your stroller away from the group, give him/her a break, and rejoin us when he/she is back in the stroller. Moms may not continue working out while a crawling or walking child is out of his/her stroller, and the mom and out-of-stroller child must be away from the group during the break. Mobile children can get in the way of the moms or resistance bands, which could result in injury to moms and children alike. We never want to see this happen, so please adhere to the policy above and ask any of our instructors if you have any questions.
~ School-Aged Children: During the summer and on holiday breaks, elementary-aged children (kindergarten and up) may be present and not in a stroller during class IF the following policy is followed. For safety reasons, we ask that children sit during station exercises (bringing a blanket or folding chair is advised) and are prohibited from playing with the fitness equipment used for class. School-aged children can walk or jog with their guardian from station to station, but must be within arms reach of their guardian at all times. Scooter or bikes may be used with a helmet and only while traveling between stations for school-aged children and above. FIT4MOM Riverside assumes no responsibility.
